Mayor Lois Frankel spoke today, Saturday April 24th at Heritage Village.
West Palm Beach Mayor Frankel spoke to our community today, Saturday April 24th regarding the recent shooting that occured within our community on Tuesday April 20th around 9pm. The incident occured while our current board president and vice president were inventoring lighting and they were being assisted by one of our residents. Two youths who were walking through the commiunity and passed by the group were asked by our current board president who they were and what unit they lived in. A calm conversation turned into a shooting when the youths were asked the questions and then started walking away only to return back a few minutes later and one of the youths pulled a gun and shot the community member who was assisting the board members. The shot was at point blank range and the community member is in critical condition.
We wish everyone in the immediate family of our striken community member hope and faith and our prayers are with them all in this moment of need.
The Mayor brought her special West Palm Beach police unit members and community advisors to our meeting at our clubhouse to discuss the importance of keeping communication open with the West Palm Beach Police Department and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
UPDATE 5/16/2010 - Our neighboor is doing better and is still in critical / stable condition.
Our thoughts and prayers to him and his immediate family
